Book Cover
Final Year Project 2
Book 1 - ME TOO
“I know Why The Caged Bird Sings”
I designed this book based on Maya Angelous book “ I know why the caged bird sings” I feel that it resonates really well with the me too movement because she used her book to speak out about her struggles and trauma. I tried to emulate bansky’s spray paint style on this book. Making it look like the little graffiti is cleaning the crosses over their mouths symbolising breaking their silence.
Book 2 - BLM
“And Still I Rise”
This cover is inspired by another book by Maya Angelou. “Still I Rise” is a powerful poem that draws on a range of influences, including her personal background and the African American experience in the United States. Its message of liberation and survival was a consistent theme in Angelou’s work. After carefully picking a range of colours for this piece I decided to turn it into black and white. The ranges of colours still shines through.
I feel that this is very effective and it gives it an emotive effect.
Book 3- Surveillance Captalism
I used the application Procreate to illustrate this cover. The whole idea of this is to demonstrate how surveillance capitalism works or at least how I see it.
I want it to literaly show how they are listening to us through our devices and is passed on to different computers showing that our information is sold to
different companies as a marketing tactic.
